The accommodation

Our small, rustic house is located in the centre of the typical Ticino village of Brè, a village situated 800 metres above sea level in the saddle between Monte Brè and Monte Boglia. Only 20' from the city of Lugano, you will find yourself in a very quiet, country setting surrounded by nature and a wonderful starting point for walks or mountain bike tours.

The apartment offers a double bedroom with a small balcony from which there is a beautiful view of the Tamaro - Lema mountain range. The living room has a table for 4 people and a sofa bed. A small, fully equipped modern kitchen and bathroom round out the offer.

"La casetta Brè" can be reached from Lugano FFS station by bus number 2 to Lugano Centro and from there by bus number 12 every 30 / 60 minutes from early morning to late evening. www.sbb.ch/en/home.html. For those coming by car, you can come to the house for loading and unloading, and then you can park at the nearby public pay parking spaces 100 metres from the house.

The apartment comes automatically stocked with a range of products for self-service purchase:

- Cold drinks, local beers
- Wines (Calicanto wine shop opposite the cottage)

You will also find a range of information, brochures and maps on what to do in and around Brè. 

There is free Wi-Fi available.

Waste
Official red waste/trash bags are provided for guests. Guest may also separate recycling: paper, glass, compost, aluminium, PET, batteries. 

Bicycles
For those who bring their own bicycles, we have a room where you can leave them safely. The space also has a power socket for charging e-bikes and basic equipment for small repairs.

We ask that all house guests observe our house rules, which are detailed in the attachment on this site.

We will be happy to answer any questions that you may have, either before or during your visit!

The village of Brè

Brè, the village
The heart of Brè is beautifully maintained and offers, in particular, an interesting artistic itinerary. Works by various artists decorate corners, lanes and small squares throughout the village. 
There is a museum dedicated to Wilhelm Schmid (1892-1971), a painter from Aargau, located in the house where he lived.

There are unfortunately no food shops in Brè. The nearest are in Lugano - Cassarate (20' by bus).

What to do

In the surroundings and beyond ...
In Brè, you can go on beautiful hikes or bicycle tours. Monte Boglia rises above the village and offers a splendid view over the entire Lugano area and towards Monte Rosa and the Valais Alps to the west, the Monti Lariani to the east and the Mendrisiotto Pre-Alps to the south.From Monte Boglia you can return by descending towards Alpe Bolla and take a break at the "Osteria".

Towards the south you will find the beautiful but little-known region of Mendrisiotto with, for example, Monte Generoso, a mountain that can be reached from the Capolago-Riva San Vitale station by cogwheel train. Information at www.montegeneroso.ch/en
